Polk State College Cheer Squad Places Seventh at CHEERSPORT Nationals

The Polk State College cheerleading squad placed seventh overall in the

Cheersport Cheerleading and Dance National Championships held Saturday and Sunday at the World Congress Center in Atlanta.

The Eagles performed two, two minute and 30 second routines in the annual event, featuring hundreds of teams from across the United States.

Each routine requires stunts, jumping, dancing and tumbling.

The team captured the college division of the Florida State Fair Cheer competition during the February 9th weekend.

Competing for the Eagles were Jerica Johnson of Winter Haven, Mary Houser of Winter Haven, Sarah Kelsey of Lakeland, Brandy Nesbit of Lakeland, Kristiana Heath of Lake Wales, Emilee Sanford of Haines City, Sally Tarver of Winter Haven, Shakeva Fraizer of Palm Beach, Kasey O’Neal of Lake Wales, Amber Hardee of Lake Wales, Dervin Green of Lakeland, Sarah Pervis of Lakeland, Jennifer Dyal of Riverview, Courtney Trudell of Auburndale, Megan Kennedy of Winter Haven and Samantha Paul of Bartow, Marianne Monk of Lake Wales and Alley Cioffi of Winter Haven.

The team is coached by head coach Brittany Carson and assistant Kristen Mason.
