Eagles lose by a run to South Florida

Leading 11-10, Polk State gave up two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning, losing to South Florida State College 12-11 last night in Avon Park. 

Zach Scott homered and drove in four runs. 

Danny Berg went 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs. 

Nico Limoncelli singled, walked, stole a base, drove in a run, and scored twice. 

Miles Simington had a single, a pair of walks, a run, and two RBI. 

Sam Koruschak collected three RBI with a single and a sacrifice fly. 

Trent Sinkfield doubled and scored a run. 

Rhys Cratty had a single and a run scored. 

Berg started on the mound and allowed four runs on four hits in two innings. 

Julio Blanco, Bryce Van Horn, Jared Freilich, and Billy McKay worked in relief. 

The Eagles (14-16, 3-7) play South Florida again Friday at 3 p.m. at Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven.
