Polk State extended its winning streak to seven games tonight with a 4-2 win over the St. Petersburg College Titans at Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven.
The Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the first, but St. Pete put a pair of runs on the board in the seventh. The Eagles answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning for the 4-2 advantage.
Polk State finished with three hits and nine walks.
Danny Berg doubled and drove in three runs.
Cody Oerther had a single, a walk, and two runs.
Trent Sinkfield walked twice and scored a run.
Alec Barger also walked and scored a run.
Starting pitcher Pat Doudican tossed six shutout innings, giving up two hits and two walks while striking out 11.
The Titans scored their two runs off Jared Freilich, who had two strikeouts in two-thirds of an inning.
Billy McKay (2-0) picked up the win, shutting out St. Pete on one hit over two and two-thirds innings.
The Eagles (13-9, 2-0) face the Titans again Friday at 6 p.m. in St. Petersburg.
