Eagles rally in ninth to beat Lake-Sumter

Trailing 3-1 after eight innings, Polk State rallied for four runs in the top of the ninth and a 5-3 win over Lake-Sumter State College today in Leesburg. 

The Eagles have won two in a row, both come-from-behind victories. 

Chavez Fernander (2-0) pitched a scoreless eighth and ninth inning, earning the win in relief for the second straight game. 

Starter Alec Barger worked five innings, allowing two runs on six hits while walking two and striking out eight. 

Trent Sinkfield doubled, walked and drove in a run. 

Cody Oerther singled, stole a base, and scored two runs. 

Danny Berg had a single, a double, and a walk. 

Sam Koruschak singled, scored a run, and drove in a pair. 

Zach Scott finished with a single, a walk, a stolen base, and an RBI. 

Chase Ashby singled, walked, and scored a run. 

Miles Simington had a single and a walk. 

The Eagles (5-5, No. 10 FCSAA, No. 12 NJCAA) return to action Monday when they play Santa Fe College (No. 2 FCSAA) at 3 p.m. in Gainesville.
