Eagles blank Bucs for fifth straight win

Polk State won its fifth straight game tonight, shutting out Florida Southwestern 2-0 in Fort Myers. 

The Eagles scored a run in the fifth and one in the sixth. 

Starting pitcher Justin Gill earned the win. In six innings he allowed three hits, walking one and striking out six. 

Luis Ferrer and Zach Schneider held the Buccaneers hitless for the rest of the game, with Schneider picking up the save. 

Zach Diewert doubled and scored a run. 

Zach Scott had a double and a stolen base. 

Cole Warken walked and singled. 

Marquis Orozco had a single and a run scored. 

Jonah Garrison went 1-for-2 with a triple. 

The Eagles (35-10, 19-5, No. 2 FCSAA, No. 8 NJCAA) play South Florida State College at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven.
