Justin Gill and Luis Ferrer commit to FGCU, UCF

Justin Gill and Luis Ferrer of Polk State baseball have committed to continuing their academic and athletic careers at Florida Gulf Coast University and University of Central Florida, respectively.

Gill, sophomore pitcher Winter Haven who played at Lake Region High School, has a 4-2 record. In 40 innings, he has 47 strikeouts and a 2.03 ERA.

A sophomore pitcher from Cape Coral, Fla., Ferrer has a 2.29 ERA with 30 strikeouts in 35 innings. He has a 5-2 record with one save.

"We are excited for both of our lefties Justin and Luis to have the opportunity to move on to successful Division I programs like FGCU and UCF next year," said Head Coach Al Corbeil. 

In his six years at Polk State, Corbeil has seen over 60 players move on to four-year schools. Gill and Ferrer mark the 11th Division I commitment of the 2017 Polk State baseball season.
