Eagles fall to Hawks

Polk State's three-game winning streak ended yesterday with a 15-5 eight-inning loss against Hillsborough Community College in Tampa. 

The Eagles had a 3-2 lead after three innings, but the Hawks took the lead 4-3 after four innings, and Polk State trailed for the rest of the game. 

The Eagles had seven hits, including five doubles. 

Zach Diewert went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. 

Marquis Orozco also doubled and drove in a pair of runs. 

Isaiah Cullum had a double, a walk, a run, and an RBI. 

Zach Biermann doubled and scored a run. 

Zach Scott walked twice and scored once. 

Skylar Frey singled, walked, and scored a run. 

Starting pitcher Shameko Smith (2-1) took the loss. 

Chad Tworek, Chavez Fernander, Cole Crowder, and Zach Schneider worked in relief. 

The Eagles (30-10, 14-5, No. 2 FCSAA, No. 7 NJCAA) play Hillsborough again Monday at 6 p.m. at Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven.
