Eagles fall to Manatees

Polk State's four-game winning streak ended today in a 11-4 loss to State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota at Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven. 

The Manatees had 17 hits off nine Eagles pitchers. 

Starting pitcher Shameko Smith (2-1) took the loss. In three and two-thirds of an inning he allowed two runs (one unearned) on five hits, walking three and striking out six. 

With the score tied at 2 after four innings, the Manatees scored a run in the fifth and four in the sixth. They added a run in the seventh and three in the ninth. 

Polk State scored single runs in the eighth and ninth. 

The Eagles had seven hits. 

Zach Diewert went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, a stolen base, a run, and an RBI. 

Cole Warken singled twice and scored a run. 

Bradley Harmon had a single, a walk, and a run. 

Zach Scott singled and drove in a run. 

Jonah Garrison had a single, a walk, and an RBI. 

Zach Biermann walked twice. 

Marquis Orozco had a walk and an RBI. 

The Eagles (27-9, 11-4, No. 2 FCSAA, No. 7 NJCAA) play St. Petersburg College on Monday at 6 p.m. at Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven.
