Eagles fall to Eastern Florida 3-1

Polk State lost 3-1 to Eastern Florida State College tonight at Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven. 

The Titans took a 2-0 lead in the third on back-to-back singles, a wild pitch, and a two-out single. 

The Eagles scored their run in the sixth when Zach Scott scored from first base on Jonah Garrison's two-out double. 

Eastern Florida added a run in the eighth on three straight singles. 

Polk State had the potential tying runs on first and third with two outs in the bottom of the ninth but failed to score. 

For the second straight game the Eagles collected just three hits. 

Isaiah Cullum singled and Skylar Frey doubled. 

Zach Diewert walked twice. 

Luis Ferrer (3-1) had his first loss of the season. In five innings he allowed two unearned runs on seven hits, walking two and striking out five. 

Pat Doudican worked two innings, giving up a run on two hits while recording three strikeouts. 

Chavez Fernander pitched two shutout innings. He allowed three hits and had three strikeouts.   

The Eagles (13-5, No. 2 FCSAA, No. 11 NJCAA) play Lake-Sumter State College (5-9) tomorrow at 5 p.m. at Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven.
