Eagles improve to 7-1 with win over Seminole State

Zach Diewert's solo home run broke a scoreless tie in the third inning, and Polk State went on to beat Seminole State College 6-2 today at Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven. 

The Eagles added three more runs in the third. 

Skylar Frey singled, stole second, took third on a wild pitch, and scored on Isaiah Cullum's single. Cullum scored on a wild pitch, and Cole Warken scored when Zach Scott hit into a fielder's choice. 

Polk State got another run in the fourth when Diewert scored on a wild pitch. 

The Raiders scored their two runs in the sixth on a single, a double, and two wild pitches. 

The Eagles put a final run on the board in the sixth when Diewert scored on a Raudy Martinez sacrifice fly. 

Luis Ferrer (2-0) earned the win. In five shutout innings he allowed three hits and a walk while striking out four. 

Pat Doudican, Cole Crowder, and Justin Tworek appeared in relief, with Tworek picking up his third save. 

Along with his homer, Diewert had two doubles, three runs, a walk, a stolen base, and an RBI. 

Frey went 3-for-3 with a sacrifice, a stolen base, and a run. 

Cullum singled, walked scored a run, and drove in a run. 

Warken went 2-for-4 with a run. 

The Eagles (7-1, No. 4 FCSAA, No. 11 NJCAA) travel to Palatka tomorrow to play St. Johns River State College at 5 p.m.
