Road loss ends Eagles’ winning streak

Polk State's six-game winning streak ended last night with a 10-4 loss to State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota in Bradenton.

After the Eagles scored three runs in the sixth to tie the score 3-3, the Manatees answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning and four in the seventh.

Jacob Kelley (4-3) took the loss in relief of Joe Strzelecki. Justin Gill, Tommy Romero, and Johnnie Schneider also saw action out of the bullpen.

Zach Biermann hit his 10th home run of the season and had three RBI.

Zach Diewert went 2-for-5 with a run, an RBI, and a stolen base.

Cody Burgess stole his 43rd base of the year, singled, and scored a run.

Brandon Gali, Cole Warken, Joe Strzelecki, and Yeison Gomez each singled.

The 2016 Suncoast Conference Champion Eagles (36-13, 21-7, No. 3 FCSAA, No. 18 NJCAA) play their final conference game tomorrow against State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota at 6 p.m. at Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven.
