Eagles rally to beat Florida SouthWestern

Trailing 5-2, Polk State scored five runs in the eighth inning to beat Florida SouthWestern State College 7-5 yesterday at City of Palms Park in Fort Myers. 

Yeison Gomez went 3-for-4 with a run scored and three RBI. 

Joe Strzelecki doubled, scored a run, and drove in two. 

Zach Biermann had a double, a run scored, and an RBI. 

Brandon Gali singled, walked, stole a base, and scored a run. 

Isaiah Cullum went 2-for-2 with two walks and a run scored. 

Cody Burgess singled, walked, and stole a base. 

Cole Warken singled and scored a run. 

Skylar Frey also singled. 

Starting pitcher Zak Spivy worked six innings, allowing four hits and five runs (two unearned) while walking two and striking out three. 

Justin Tworek (6-1) earned the win in relief. In one inning, he gave up one hit and no runs. 

Jacob Kelley worked the final two innings, earning his fifth save. He allowed no hits or runs and struck out one. 

The Eagles (31-13, 16-7, No. 5 FCSAA) face Florida SouthWestern again today at 1 p.m. at Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven.
