Eagles suffer road loss to Hillsborough

Polk State dropped an 8-6 decision to Hillsborough Community College today in Tampa. 

The Eagles got on the board first, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. 

The had a 6-4 lead after six innings, but the Hawks scored two in the seventh and two in the eight for the win. 

Zak Spivy (2-3) took the loss. In five innings he allowed eight hits and four runs while walking two and striking out four. 

Justin Tworek, Justin Gill, and Jacob Kelley worked in relief. 

Cody Burgess went 3-for-5 with a double, two stolen bases, a run, and an RBI. 

Yeison Gomez singled, doubled, scored a run, and stole a base. 

Cole Warken had a double, a run, and a stolen base. 

Zach Biermann singled and drove in two runs. 

Raudy Martinez added a double and a run. 

Zach Diewert had a walk, a stolen base, and a run. 

Isaiah Cullum also scored a run, and Skylar Frey had an RBI. 

The Eagles  (17-8, 2-2, No. 9 FCSAA) play the Hawks again Monday at 3 p.m. in Tampa.
