Eagles blank Indian River to start season 3-0

The Polk State Eagles soared to their third straight win today, shutting out Indian River State College 7-0 in Fort Pierce. 

The Pioneers managed only four hits off Eagles pitchers. 

Starting pitcher Jordan Spicer tossed five innings, picking up his first win of the season. He allowed two hits while walking two and striking out three. 

Johnnie Schneider worked three innings, gibing up one hit, walking none, and striking out six. 

Justin Gill pitched the final inning, yielding a hit and a walk while striking out one. 

Cody Burgess went 2-for-4 with two RBI, a run, and a stolen base. 

Cole Warken had two hits, including a double, an RBI, and a run. 

Zach Biermann scored twice and drove in a run. 

Brandon Gali collected two hits and a run scored. 

Yeison Gomez had a hit, a run, and an RBI. 

Tommy Gamble scored a run and had an RBI. 

Kaylor Kulina walked and drove in a run. 

With today's win, Head Coach Al Corbeil has won 200 games in his career at Polk State. 

The Eagles (3-0, No. 7 FCSAA) face Eastern Florida State College on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Bing Tyus Yard in Winter Haven.
