Labozetta’s shutout gives Eagles sixth straight win

Brad Labozetta pitched a complete-game one-hit shutout tonight as Polk State beat South Florida State College 10-0 in a seven-inning run-rule game in Winter Haven. 

Labozetta, who pitched at Lakeland High School, dominated Panther hitters. He held them hitless through the first four innings, finishing with two walks and 11 strikeouts. He improves to 5-2. 

With the win, their sixth in a row, the Eagles have shut out South Florida in three straight games and swept the season series 6-0. 

The Eagles got the only run they would need in the third inning. Matt Piatt led off with a single and scored on a throwing error on Andrew Stroud's ground ball. 

Eagles hitters added three runs in the fourth inning and six in the fifth, finishing the game with 14 hits. 

Keith Oren had a four-RBI game, going two-for-four with two runs scored. 

Andrew Stroud drove in three runs and collected three hits. 

Piatt had two singles, a walk, a run scored, and an RBI. 

Cody Burgess singled, doubled, and scored a run. 

Brandon Gali went two-for-four with a stolen base and two runs scored. 

Kaylor Kulina had a walk, two singles, and two runs scored. 

JD Osborne singled and scored a run. 

Luke Parker drove in one run and scored another. 

The Eagles (33-13, 15-6, No. 4 FCSAA) play Hillsborough Community College tomorrow at 6 p.m. at New York Yankees Community Field in Tampa.
