Ninth-inning rally gives Eagles win over Manatees

Polk State scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning tonight to win 6-3 over State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota in Bradenton. 

With the score tied 3-3, Andrew Stroud led off the inning with a line drive single to left. After JD Osborne reached on an error, Kyle Jackson hit a ball back to the pitcher, who threw it into the outfield. Stroud, Osborne, and Jackson all scored on the error. 

Cody Gamble came out of the bullpen in the bottom of the ninth and got his seventh save, striking out three straight batters, all on called third strikes. 

Starting pitcher Jordan Barrett worked six innings and allowed two unearned runs. 

Luis Ferrer got the win in relief. With the Eagles leading 3-2 in the eighth he gave up the tying run on a triple. 

Matt Piatt had a double and two RBI, and Osborne had a triple. 

The Eagles (17-8, 4-1, No. 7 in the FCSAA Coaches' Poll) face the Manatees again in Winter Haven on Saturday at 1 p.m.
