After scoring 38 runs in their last five game – all wins – Polk State managed only one tonight in a 4-1 loss to Suncoast Conference rival State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota in Winter Haven.

The Manatees scored first, getting a run in the third on an infield hit and a single.

The Eagles came back to tie it in the fourth when, with two out, Kyle Jackson drew a walk. The next hitter, Cole Ondrejka, drilled the first pitch into right field for a double. Jackson moved to third and then scored on Keith Oren's RBI single.

That ended Polk State's scoring for the night.

The Manatees added two in the sixth and one in the ninth.

The Eagles loaded the bases with no out in the seventh, but two strikeouts and a fielder's choice ended the threat.

Kaylor Kulina, Andrew Stroud, and JD Osborne each had two hits.

Starting pitcher Maikor Mora (2-3) took the loss. He worked six inning and allowed six hits and three runs (one unearned) while walking one and striking out four.

Reliever Jose Pupo gave up two hits and a run in two and one-third innings.

Luis Ferrer pitched the final two-thirds of an inning. He walked one and struck out one.

The Eagles (16-8, 3-1, No. 7 in the FCSAA Coaches' Poll) face the Manatees again in Bradenton on Friday at 6 p.m.
