Polk State could manage only one hit tonight as the Eagles lost 1-0 to Santa Fe College in Winter Haven.

Saints pitcher Tom Watson held the Eagles hitless until the eighth inning, when pinch-hitter Andrew Stroud broke up the no-hitter.

The Eagles pitchers were almost as good.

Starter Jacob Kelley (0-1) gave up four hits and one run in four innings. He walked one and struck out four.

David Lara, Jose Pupo, and Jordan Guerrero combined to hold Santa Fe hitless through the final five innings.

The Eagles (1-3 and ranked No. 3 in Florida in the FCSAA Coaches' Poll) face Daytona State College on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Winter Haven.

Jim Selph, who played for Polk State's first baseball team 50 years ago, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch at 12:50 p.m.
