Polk State's sophomore baseball players took part in the annual FCSAA Sophomore All-Star Weekend on Oct. 25-26 at Tigertown in Lakeland. They had the chance to show off their skills in front of more than 200 pro scouts and college coaches in various workouts and in an all-star game between the Suncoast Conference and the Mid Florida Conference in Joker Marchant Stadium.
"It was a good opportunity," said Jordan Barrett (Margate), who pitched an inning in the all-star game.
"It was fun being around guys from other teams, and pitching in front of so many scouts was a great experience."
Head Coach Al Corbeil said, "The All-Star Weekend continues to be the pinnacle of the fall for our guys. I was glad we had beautiful weather and they had an opportunity to showcase themselves in front of some of the best college programs in the country in a tremendous venue at Joker Marchant Stadium."
