Eagles baseball players receive state awards

Four Polk State Eagles baseball players received awards tonight at the FCSAA/NJCAA Region VIII state tournament banquet at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland.

Infielder Cody DeNoyelles and catcher Casey Schroeder were named Second Team All State, while pitcher Casey Kulina and outfielder Daniel Sweet made First Team All State.

Kulina was also named State Pitcher of the Year, and Sweet received the State Player of the Year award.

"We had a great year as a team, and we had some guys who had some phenomenal seasons individually, so the awards were very well deserved," said head coach Al Corbeil.

"Casey had an unbelievable year going 11-0, and Daniel is the first guy I've ever had in my eight years of coaching who hit over .400. I'm really excited for them and for Cody and Casey."
