Polk State extending its winning streak to eight games tonight, holding off an eighth inning rally and beating State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota 7-6 in Bradenton.

Trailing 7-2, SCF rallied for four runs in the bottom of the eighth before Jose Serrano came in from the bullpen to slam the door, getting a two-out ground ball to end the inning. He then retired three straight batters in the bottom of the ninth for his fifth save of the season.

Starter Casey Kulina improved his record to 8-0, pitching seven and one-third of an inning while striking out four and yielding four earned runs. Cody Gamble faced three batters in the eighth.

Daniel Sweet went 3-for-4, walked stole a base, and drove in a run. Luke Parker (2-for-5) and Cole Ondrejka (2-for-4 with a stolen base) each had an RBI and scored twice. Shane Gordon and Cody DeNoyelles also drove in a run each. Casey Schroeder (1-for-4) walked and had a stolen base. 

Polk State 27-11 (15-5, first place in the Suncoast Conference) faces SCF, Manatee-Sarasota again Monday at 6 p.m. in Winter Haven.
