Eagles Fall to Santa Fe 23-8

The Polk State College baseball team suffered a 23-8 loss Wednesday at Santa Fe College in Gainesville.

The Eagles (2-1), ranked No. 1 in the FCSAA pre-season poll, were pounded for 19 hits and committed three errors against No. 5 Santa Fe (4-0).

Polk freshman Colyn O'Connell (0-1/Dunedin) suffered the loss. Polk was held to nine hits.

Freshman Alec Wong (Rockledge) tripled and drove in three runs for Polk.

Freshman Daniel Sweet (Mississippi), sophomore Erik Hindmon (Ocala) and freshman Sam Machonis (Tampa) each rapped two hits.

The Eagles host Palm Beach State Friday at 5 p.m.
