Asher Named First Team All-American

WINTER HAVEN — On Tuesday, the National Junior College Athletic Association named Polk State right-handed pitcher Alec Asher a Division I First Team All-American.  

Asher, a product of Lakeland High School, went 13-1 this season for the Eagles with a 2.08 ERA in 14 appearances. He has worked 111.0 innings, allowing 17 earned runs on 75 hits with one walk and 180 strikeouts. He also went 7-for-17 (.412) at the plate, scoring seven runs and driving in seven runs. 

The Texas Rangers selected Asher in the fourth round of the Major League Baseball draft earlier this month; he was the 156th pick overall.
