Eagles take down St. Johns River in Midweek Contest

WINTER HAVEN - The Polk State Baseball team captured their 18 victory of the season tonight, taking down visiting St. Johns River State College 4-1.

Offensively the Eagles were led by freshman Matthew Singletary, going 2-for-2 with two runs scored. Freshman Erik Hindmon delivered a big two-run double in the fifth and Freshman Aldo Ferrante was 2-for-3 with an RBI double.

Polk pitcher Brian Johnson started and pitched seven innings. The sophomore gave up just five hits, one unearned run and two walks.

The Eagles will continue play in Winter Haven on Thursday, hosting St. Thomas University J.V. The first pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
