Eagles Win 1-0 with Solid Pitching and Timely Hitting

WINTER HAVEN - The Polk Baseball team captured their third victory of the season on Saturday, taking down visiting Daytona State College 1-0.

Alec Asher pitched five scoreless innings, giving up three hits while fanning five. Chirs Waltermire (1-0) picked up the win, pitching the final three innings.

Connor Szczerba had fourth-consecutive multi-hit games. Szczerba hit 3-for-3 with a double and a stolen base. Colt Hankamer went 2-for-3 on the afretnoon.

Brett Jones made the game-saving diving catch at the warning track in right field and doubled off the runner on second. He also had game-winning double in seventh to drive in Matt Singletary from first base.

Polk will square off with Tampa J.V. on Monday at 6 p.m. The game is scheduled to take place in Tampa, FL.
