Eagles Rally Falls Short in 6-5 Loss to No. 9 Santa Fe

WINTER HAVEN - For the second time in the last seven days the Saints picked up a win over the Eagles. Down by six runs in two innings, the Eagles (4-3) roared back but couldn't overtake the Saints in a 6-5 loss tonight in Winter Haven.

Pitcher Brian Johnson was tagged for six runs in the second inning. The Eagles fought back and made it a game scoring two in the third inning and three in the ninth inning. With the bases loaded, Erik Hindmon struck out to end the game.

Conor Szczerba went 2-for-5 for the Eagles, and Michael Danner went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs.

For the Saints, Drew Doty led the offense, going 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI, Caleb Denmark finished 2-for-4 and Blake Berger was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

JT Simpson shut down Eagles, holding them to two runs over six innings with six strikeouts.

The Eagles plays Webber J.V. at 5 p.m. tomorrow in Winter Haven.
